The Loyal Orange Institution of Scotland condemns in the strongest terms the deliberate vandalism and hate crime carried out against the vehicle of our Most Worthy Grand Master, Bro. Andy Murray, on Saturday 6th September at Cathedral Square during the day of our Grand Lodge meeting.

This targeted attack was a cowardly act of intimidation, directed not only against our Grand Master but against the values and witness of our Institution.

Bro. Murray has reported the matter to Police Scotland and responded with dignity and resolve:

“I will not yield to bullying or intimidation. Whilst this is the third such attack during my tenure, it will not derail or distract me from the work we set out almost three years ago to modernise and future-proof our Institution. Though these incidents weigh heavily on my family, they only strengthen my resolve.”

Despite the seriousness of the incident, Bro. Murray has also called for prayer and forgiveness:

“I hold no bitterness. I pray for those responsible, that they might understand the harm they have caused and, through repentance, find a path to peace.”

The Loyal Orange Institution of Scotland expresses its full support for our Grand Master and his family at this time. We echo his call for unity, reminding all that we are a fraternal body, bound by our reformed Protestant faith and strengthened through fellowship.

As Bro. Murray stated at Saturday’s Grand Lodge meeting:

“It is in unity that we find strength, and in the face of adversity that we must remain unshaken.”

The Loyal Orange Institution of Scotland stands firmly behind our Most Worthy Grand Master as he continues to lead with courage, faith, and conviction.
