The County Grand Lodge of Glasgow is proud to announce the VE Day Commemoration Parade, set to take place on Saturday, 17th May 2025. This event is a significant occasion to honour and remember the sacrifices made during World War II and to celebrate the victory in Europe.

However, we regret having to address the recent orchestrated attack by certain sections of the Scottish press on our upcoming event. The exploitation of facts regarding the timing of the event, routes, road closures, football fixtures, and associated gatherings has caused unnecessary concerns, fear, and unrest among our membership.

As an organisation, we have diligently followed and complied with all requirements set forth by Glasgow City Council. We have worked closely with the Processions Officer and Police Scotland to ensure that all protocols are met to their satisfaction.

It is disheartening to note that other major parades and demonstrations do not receive the same level of scrutiny or reporting in the press. We believe that our event, which aims to bring the community together in a spirit of remembrance and celebration, deserves fair and balanced coverage.

We invite the public to join us in this important commemoration and to stand with us in honouring the legacy of those who fought for our freedom.
